Appel à contribution ouvert – Fenêtres d’écoute – Listening windows

Cet article est écrit alors que, face à une sérieuse crise sanitaire due au Coronavirus, Covid-19 de son petit nom, des mesures de confinements ont été prises à l’échelle internationale.

Ce qui signifie pour moi, et pour bien d’autres hélas, l’annulation de toute pratique publique, parcours d’écoute, point d’ouïe, atelier, workshop, conférence…. Bref l’oreille confinée, l’écoute en appartement, au mieux à la fenêtre, hormis de rares sorties ravitaillement. Mais l’ampleur de la crise oblige à se montrer très prudent.

Donc, comme beaucoup, je réfléchis comment continuer à pratiquer, non plus des PAS – Parcours Audio Sensibles, l’appartement ne s’y prêtant guère, mais à développer des formes de Points d’ouïe adaptés aux circonstances contraignantes. Je réfléchis aussi à la façon de les partager, de les faire circuler, sans rapprochements physiques, mais en conservant des sociabilités humaines, plus que jamais nécessaires dans ces temps compliqués et anxiogènes.

Inspiré des performances chantées et musicales des fenêtres et balcons italiens, mixés à mes propres points d’ouïe et autres bancs d’écoute, je lance donc un appel collaboratif et participatif à des « Écoutes en fenêtres ».

La forme est simple et assez libre.

Ouvrir sa fenêtre, ou aller à son balcon, à une heure choisie, diurne ou nocturne, écouter le paysage ambiant, l’enregistrer, ou le décrire vocalement, ou par écrit, graphiquement, ou bien encore mixer les genres, inventer nos propres modes de description, de représentation… Le faire autant de fois que bon nous semble…

Créer ainsi une sorte de chaine de Points d’ouïe et d’écoutants, histoire de garder l’oreille tournée vers l’extérieur, et vers l’autre !

Préciser l’heure et le lieu de la captation sonore, et envoyer une photo du Point d’ouïe embrassé.

Les contributions reçues seront inscrites dans sur une carte pour les sons, et un espace numérique sera ouvert pour les documents reçus autres et complémentaires (visuels, multimédia, …).

A noter que dans un second temps, ces captations sonores pourront être matière à (re)composition par des artistes audio et musiciens expérimentaux internationaux qui seront, dans les prochaines semaines, sollicités das un autre appel et que les personnes participant à la première phase de récolte des sons qu’ils ont enregistrés marquent leur accord pour en participant à ce projet collectif.

Open call for participation – Listening windows

This text is written when, faced with a serious health crisis due to the Coronavirus or Covid-19, containment measures have been taken on a national and international scale.This means for me, and unfortunately for many others, the cancellation of any public practice, listening course, hearing point, workshop, workshop, conference…. In short, a confined ear, listening in and to an apartment, at best by the window, apart from rare outings for supplies. But the scale of the crisis means that you have to be very careful.

So, like many others, I am thinking about how to continue practicing, no longer PAS – Sensitive Audio Courses, the apartment space is not appropriate for that, but to develop forms of hearing points adapted to the constraining circumstances. I am also thinking about how to share them, to circulate them, without physical connections, but while preserving human sociability, more than ever necessary in these complicated and anxiety-provoking times.

Inspired by the sung and musical performances of Italian windows and balconies, mixed at my own hearing points and other listening benches, Desartsonnants have therefore launched, with the support of Transcultures (Centre for digital and sound cultures – Belgium – which has initiated the sound arts festival City Sonic, longtime partner of desartsonnants) along with European Pepinieres of Creation (international network to promoting and developing exchanges in various forms of contemporary arts)  a collaborative and participative call for the ongoing project/online platform Listening windows.

The application form is simple and fairly free.

Open your window, or go to your balcony, at a chosen time, day or night, listen to the surrounding landscape, record it, or describe it vocally, or in writing, graphically, or even mix genres, invent your own modes description, representation … Do it as many times as we want …

Create a kind of Hearing/Listening Points  chain, just to keep your ear turned  towards the outside, and towards the others!

Specify the time and place, if you have a picture of the kissing point, it’s great.

I will retransmit the documents on a Soundmap, and an open digital space for other types (visual, multimedia…) of documents .

Please note that in a second step, the gathered sound recordings could be material for (re)compositions/revisitations by international audio artists and experimental musicians who will, in the coming weeks, be invited to submit their artistic proposals via another call, and that the participants in this first phase of this in progress project/platform mark their agreement for this possible creative use of their recordings.
